Welcome! My name is Tia Pense and I am a Certified Hypnotherapist (CHT). I am a a graduate of the Hypnosis Motivational Institute (HMI), created by Dr. George Kappas, and a member of the American Hypnosis Association (AHA).

Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the impact that mental health struggles can have on individuals and their loved ones. This ignited a fire within me to make a difference and fight for a world where mental health is treated with the same importance as physical health.

These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and the importance of providing them the accessible support they need.

Live Life on Purpose

Now, let’s talk about how to “activate yourself” and live life on purpose!

The goal of hypnotherapy is to actualize your ideal self by consciously retraining your subconscious. The “side effect” of living life on purpose is happiness! Happiness follows fulfillment and contentment by living authentically and purposely!

Biologically, happiness comes from having more “happy” neuro-transmitters and fewer stress hormones. Specifically, happiness comes from producing more serotonin and dopamine while lowering levels of cortisol and adrenaline. 

Serotonin: Regulates melatonin and sleep, mood, body temperature. and blood flow. 90% of serotonin is produced in the digestive tract, while the rest is produced in the pineal gland.  Serotonin is essentially the opposite of the hormone adrenaline.

Dopamine: Your “short-term reward” hormone, released when completing tasks and accomplishing small goals. Dopamine is produced by the inner part of the adrenal gland, specifically the adrenal medulla, but is also found in many foods. This hormone provides instant gratification and is considered our “habit maker” hormone. 

WARNING: Do not depend on dopamine alone! Dopamine is quickly reabsorbed into your body. It is short-term and you will quickly become desensitized to this reward for learned behavior. Chasing dopamine will lead to constantly craving more and you can even suffer withdrawal!

Cortisol: Helps regulate blood sugar and blood pressure levels, and reduces inflammation.  This hormone is also produced by the adrenal gland, specifically in the adrenal cortex.  Cortisol production is also connected to diet and exercise.

Adrenaline: Acts as a neurotransmitter and is produced in crisis by the adrenal gland.  Adrenalin changes and redirects blood flow and affects blood sugar levels. 

So happiness is a balanced result of intentional and positive action that creates serotonin and dopamine, while stress hormones are merely reactional responses to outside stimulus. Do you subsist mostly on dopamine, adrenaline and cortisol? In other words, do you feel unbalanced in your daily life?

So live life on purpose, with purpose!
